Unmaterializing Chaiten's Residents
Nature often wages for humans to become nomads. Its a sensible quest with it's multitude of displays. I imagine the volcano sitting in Chaiten being the jolly green giant invited by a midget into his/her home. Chaiten is a perfect entrance into Patagonia, a perfect gateway for barges to carry food and people to their destinations. I fell in love with the deserted streets and the few of humans bravest who remain. The road is of squishy disposition carrying 2008-09 ash. A boy from Chaiten was relocated to Palena. He joined the debate team and maybe lives in the red roof government houses built for Chaiten's forced nomads. Fate led the debate team to be stranded in Chaiten during Patagonia's usual 60 mile per hour winds and rains. Phoebe, the American english teacher, scrambled to house the debate team throughout Chaiten. The boy stated, "I have a house here. We can stay there tonight." They began the walk next to a new river path carrying the squishy ash. Tamborine scraps of metal joined the wind symphonizing their walk. The walk led the boy to years as a child covered in 5 feet of pyroclastic material. Phoebe the boy and a fellow debater stood as silence joined the symphony. He did not know why his family had joined a nomadic life. He wanted to stay. He desperately wanted to go inside.
