Romancing the Jungle
There are Belizean men at Belcampo that hike in the jungle for days looking for different woods that have expired to the ground. They build platforms to sleep with ears wide open as the night party begins. They do not have the word courage or bravery when it comes to their jungle for it is simply existence. I have expired 7 days in Belize and have encountered tarantulas, a scorpion, (in a hopeful attitude) a 6ft. boa constrictor, a crocodile, and a rowdy toucan. The entire jungle at times seemingly laughs at my birth. And even as I lay in savasana in an incomparably serene yoga studio, a thatch roof drops presents of spiders and lizards as I guide them away from sleeping victims. None the less, a thing I love about the jungle's human inhabitants is they sing with the jungle. The women and men sing in the kitchen as they prepare breakfast. They sing their emotions with an array of talent. Most never thumb wrestled a scorpion more then once. Their singing mouths are literally filled with Gold.

Oh, Heather! You write and if I read the words with my eyes closed I am there with you, stroking your long black hair!
ReplyDeleteYou need to publish these posts and keep them for your children and your grandchildren to read!
You will soon after become their hero! They will say, "My Grandma did what?" and they will say it with pride!
Lots of love,
